Recipe for Results in 2019

2019 is flying toward us. Are you ready? Don’t panic. You are more ready than you think. Here is a quick 3-step recipe to clarify what you want and make it happen.

  1. REFLECT:  Take time to recognize and celebrate what you accomplished in 2018. Don’t make this hard. You know the drill. Get a clean sheet of paper or open a blank note on your favorite device and make a list. It’s ok if you can’t remember everything. This is about noticing that you did accomplish a lot of important things in 2018, not a performance review.Result, Excuse Me, Failure, Inability To
  2. STRATEGIZE:  Put an hour on your calendar. Get some coffee and have a strategy session with yourself.  This is a rough draft. Make a list. You can rework and reorder it later.  I like to use a poster board (a wall will work) and post-it notes. This makes categorizing and prioritizing much easier.
  3. PRIORITIZE:  You can’t do it all. Pick 1 goal to work on first. This is your priority. Move it to its own poster board or section of the wall. Set the rest aside for now. When the top priority is complete, go back to the list and pick the next most important goal. One at a time. Pick the one that you are most energized about and that will move the needle most on reaching your big goals.
