Too many people are not living their dreams because they are living their fears. Can you relate? I know I can. What I can’t figure out is why? Why do we let our fears determine our fate? To get to the bottom of it, we first have to understand the source(s) of our fear. Here is the list I came up with. You may think of others, but a lot of them have a similar flavor or theme behind them.
- What other people think
- Failure (want to hold onto the idea rather than actually try and risk failure)
- Success (then we might actually have to do something!)
- Discovering IT is not what we thought it would be
- Everyone finding out we are not qualified
Let’s look at these fears and decide if they are worthy of defining our destiny. What other people think – do you know that chances are other people really don’t think that much about you? The truth is we all think about ourselves more than almost anything else. Failure – would you rather try and fail or never try and live with regret? Success – it’s time to decide if you really want this dream or goal. If you don’t, it’s ok to let it go. Just realize it was your choice and move on to what you really DO want. IT is not what I thought it would be – better to find out and stop wasting your time chasing a unicorn! Everyone finding out I’m not qualified – the reality is, you are qualified. God equips you for what He called to do. If you hit a dead end, look around and take stock. You are just being redirected onto the correct path.
