Talking Back To Self-Talk

This is just one of those seasons of life with more challenges and hard places than easy going and fun. Death, major illnesses, dysfunctional people, broken relationships. It’s all in there but you know what? That’s just part of the package of living in this imperfect world. Even if we do everything right, sometimes we still get caught in the fallout of other people’s junk or circumstances we can’t control. As a perfectionist who tries to maintain control at all times, it’s pretty tough to embrace the reality of how little we really are in control of. So I have a choice to make. Again. Either I can feel defeated and give in to the yuckiness of various crap hitting the fan. Or I can dig deep into my strength and focus my inner rebel to keep running her race and pressing on to what’s ahead.

Message to that part of me that wants to lay on the floor and have a tantrum until I get my way, “Get over yourself! You are strong and bold enough to carry the weight and be a light in the darkness. You are sending a message to people around you of either hope or hopelessness. It’s up to you, so get it right!”

It’s time to stop and think about what is RIGHT with the world and the people I am privileged to journey through life with. I am called, and you are called to add value to the part of the planet we are assigned to. To be a friend, offer encouragement or a shoulder to cry on.

Take action:  Write a message back to the negative track that plays in your mind and declare what is true.
